Grieving Mother Brings Back the Joy in Life
Every once in a while something happens that is so unexpected, and so unexplainable, you just have to go with it. Suzanne Falter was a successful Internet Marketing expert when her 22-year-old daughter Teal died suddenly in August of 2012. Suzanne’s world fell apart, and so she started to write.
Teal and her friend, who also died just a few weeks after Teal, were two among the youth I counted in my report, talking about the trend I see in American culture today that I believe is killing our youth.
Over the last year, after losing her daughter, writer Suzanne’s nakedly raw essays exploring the lessons in her grief – and the joy to be found even in the worst of times. These essays have touched thousands of readers on Facebook. Many have gone viral, and now the best are collected here in her ebook, Surrendering to Joy.
Here’s the extraordinary part: Before Teal suddenly dropped dead, she knew that ‘something really big’ was going to happen that would help her become a healer. Her mom feels she very much has become one, through her death.
Suzanne writes powerfully about love, forgiveness and letting go, and although you may or may not agree with some of Suzanne’s philosophies on life, as a grieving parent, I have a feeling you are going to love Surrendering to Joy. It’s the real thing for any parent who wants to know how to heal through it.
In our Day of Love program we also talk about what its like to feel intense pain, deep loss and how to navigate through it. No matter what you’ve been through in your lifetime, its important to know that love is the ultimate gift and healer.
